Alias Announces First Round Winners of the Expose Yourself Contest

Alias SketchBook Pro Artists Awarded for their Imaginative Work - Still Lots of Time to Enter - Contest Closes February 13, 2004

Toronto, Canada – January 30, 2004 – Alias, a Silicon Graphics Inc. (NYSE: SGI) company, today announced the Round One winners of its Expose Yourself contest. Sponsored by Microsoft®, Acer®, Wacom®, PC Mall® and Intel®, the Expose Yourself contest was developed to recognize tablet artists who create their designs and illustrations using Alias® SketchBookä Pro software. The first round winning images can be viewed at www.sketchbookpro.com/contest. Winners were selected from hundreds of entries, in two categories – Best Design and Best Illustration and were judged on originality, creativity and image quality. Gray Holland, principal at Alchemy Labs, judged the Best Design category while Dale Keown, comic artist best known for The Incredible Hulk® comic book, chose the Best Illustration winner.

Round One Winners
Best Design winner is Ben Assefa, for his design entitled “WWconcept R.” Mr. Assefa is a recent graduate of the School of Art and Design at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and is pursuing a career in design. Though he is an experienced user of another Alias software package, Alias® StudioTools®, Mr. Assefa’s Expose Yourself entry was his first attempt at using Alias SketchBook Pro.

Best Illustration winner is Mark Behm, for his drawing entitled “Lithic.” Mr. Behm is a computer graphics animator at Blue Sky Studios. As an occasional developer of illustrations and concept art, Mr. Behm entered the Expose Yourself contest to test Alias SketchBook Pro, experimenting with a typical image and process he would use in his work.

The two first round winners each receive an Alias Rover 128MB MP3 Player, a copy of Alias SketchBook Pro software and Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003. The Grand Prize winner who will be announced after the contest ends on February 13th will win the top prize of a Wacom Cintiq tablet, an Acer TravelMate® C300 convertible Tablet PC running Windows® XP Tablet PC Edition with Intel Centrino™ mobile technology, Alias SketchBook Pro software, an Alias Rover 128MB MP3 Player and an ad in a print publication. The second place grand prize winner will take home an Acer TravelMate C300 convertible Tablet PC running Windows XP Tablet PC Edition with Intel Centrino mobile technology, Alias SketchBook Pro software, Wacom Intuos®2 tablet and an Alias Rover 128MB MP3 Player. And the third place grand prize winner will receive Alias SketchBook Pro software, Wacom Intuos2 Platinum tablet and an Alias Rover 128MB MP3 Player.

Contest Open Until February 13
