Each third-place grand prize winner will be awarded a Wacom Intuos2 Platinum tablet, Alias SketchBook Pro software and a Rover 128MB MP3 Player.
“Expose Yourself has motivated illustrators and designers across North America to produce some exceptional work,” says Gertrud Pillay, director of product management, PC Mall. “We are delighted that we’re able to contribute to a competition that supports and awards such talented individuals.”
A Tough Decision for the Expose Yourself Judges
Renowned industrial designer Gray Holland, principal at Alchemy Labs, and leading comic book artist Dale Keown, best known for his artwork in The Incredible Hulk®, deliberated over 350 entries before finally deciding on the top three designs and illustrations. Selections were based on technique, artistic merit and originality, in addition to the use of colors, layers and backgrounds.
“With so many outstanding pieces of work to choose from, judging the Expose Yourself contest was certainly a challenge,” comments Mr. Keown. “The control of the digital medium demonstrated by many of the entrants was just incredible. The winning entries were drawn with a very natural feel, displaying an impressive sense of weight, dimension and atmosphere. It would be difficult for one to distinguish them from work that was created using traditional tools like markers and pencils.”
Alias SketchBook Pro and Tablets Revolutionize The Way People Work
“A Tablet PC equipped with Intel Centrino mobile technology* and Alias SketchBook Pro extends the workflow beyond the office or studio,” says Karen Regis, director of marketing programs for Intel’s Mobile Platforms Group. “Whether you’re an architect inspecting a construction site, an interior designer visiting a client’s home or a game designer developing a new character while lounging in a coffee shop, you can create and modify your drawings and designs and E-mail them to your colleagues via Wi-Fi, all from the convenience of your home, public or business hotspot. It is this flexibility that has helped to unleash the creativity we have seen in the Expose Yourself contest entries.”
